THeres a huge snow storm bearign down on the entire eaast coast.. just as Gabe. Mya snd Nova are drivign cross country to get here.. we watched their progress all day at the same time we watcched the forcasts.. we were gettign cold.. and soem snow.. but the forcasts looked terrible for later today along gabes route.. they decided to push on through all staurdasy,. an got here at 1:30 AM .. today !.otherwise, they woudl ahve to stop and not get here until monday or even tuesday   . we were so exixited to see them !I

They got here at 1 am.. they had driven almost 900 miles straight !

we stayed up eating and talking till abotu 230.. then we all went to bed. We woke up late to a bright sunyy and very cold day 

we got out in the sunshine.. and nova loved it despite the cold 

its so nice to have gabe, mya and nova here !

-9 F this am.. I love it when its this cold.. feels really crisp..  .. even the olive oil is freezing ! 

 I put in a vent in the ceilingwe spent the day getting ready for Gabe and Nova.  of our oiler room in the hopes it woudl help warm the bathroom.. in the process I found a stash of someones tequilla.. .. not mine 🙂 

I ran soem errors this am.. including a run to the dump.. and a stop at hoem depot.. as I was driving Iand listening to NPR.. the Sceicne Friday segment abotu the XenBox brain wave work cem on the radio.. show cool is that ? 

also ran in to work to give soem supplies to my freind Michael.. he’s goign out to look at toms equipment to be used to examine destructuve testing.. he asked me if I had any broken electronics.. I offered him a bunch of exploded components from my ‘wonderful mistakes’ collection. will be cool to see what he finds !

I love fridays !>. we had great snow today so diane and I did a quick hike up bamforth to the window

on the way up we saw this very cool set of trees that had merged together into one..   So romantic !

After work today I went to my first meeting at Richmonds brand new low power FM station WRUJ.. WRUJ has been in the works for about 24 years ! .. Back in 2002 two hign school students, Jack and Elden got together to create a low power station.. our freind Don D and I were there adult advisors.  there  was a short period back there when towns and other groups could apply for low power FM licensces.    We raised several thousand dollars towards the porject.. I even road a an electric go cart in teh 4th of july parade promoting ”Radio Free Richmond !

the goverment changed.. and all lpfm stations were put on hold.. but the money we raised stayed in the bank.. 

flash forward to 2026, the government s now allowing towns like ours to create LPFM stations.. and we were able to apply that money thats been sitting in a bank gaining interest all that time !

Currently WRUJ is o[erating via online streamign only .. there are 3-4 shows a qweek. soon we’ll be buying a transmitter and antenna.. thats wehre i’d like to help   The station wil be used to brodcast town events.. and act as a resource in the time of emergencies.. not too remote a proposition given that we’ve been flooded 3 time s in 5 years !

THere were several other volunteers there  including Don D.. who was with us there at the start in 2002 .. also kate, greg.. and soem folks from Mount Mansfield Community TV>

As I was leaving the meeting.. I saw a display about Jonesville where we live.. there was an account of a terrible train / car accident where 3 peopkle were killed.. I’d never heard this story !!
