Diane and I decided to address cabin fever head on by heading in to the woods. We started on bolton notch road.. undecided whether we would ‘just’ do the preston pond loop.. or make the 5 mile up and down back to our house. we were enjoying the fresh tracks of being the only folks out on the trail in the new snow.. When we came to the intersection of preston pond trail and saw the heavily walked trail, we opted for the more remote .. and much longer and steeper walk home. Made me think of Robert frost..
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stoodAnd looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claim,Because it was grassy and wanted wear;Though as for that the passing thereHad worn them really about the same,And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I kept the first for another day!Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.it was tough going up there.. many trees down which made following the blazes hard.. and made the walking kind of treacherous.. didn’t impede me from making a beautiful naked snow angel !. (don’t worry. tasteful pictures)
The scenery was beautiful.. and the weather was great.. temps rising until rain in the afternoon.. y the time we got back it was near freezing.. which is pretty darn warm for this time of year.. . we’d long since shed our coats
now its raining.. (yuck)..wishing for a changeover to snow..
more tomorrow.
