Last night in Vegas. .and boy am i ready to leave. It’s been a longggggg week of talking, walking, late nights and little sleep. I am verklempt .. (ie.. choked up) in several senses.. first .. I’ managed to pick up a big that everyone else on our team is sharing.. that’s given me a sour throat and fever… .. I’m also choked up a bit emotionally. it’s been a week of u and downs in many senses.. I loved seeing so many Friends here at the conference (out of 153,000 people, you’re bound to run in to a few. nicht ? _
On the work front.. we had….. lets say… some interesting technical and non technical challenges, but int the end, the demos went very well.. got out message out.. made some new friends and ally’s and got even more clarity that we were on the right path..
I have to say that it was very hard for me to say good bye to our team and our partners.. we’ve gotten pretty close through these last several weeks of very hard work.. I really like these folks.. and really look forward to continuing to work with them all on this project… (more on the project over the next few weeks)
Here’s a few pics from today and last night
Out with freind Leonard.. a guy I’ve worked with often.. but never met
Here we are this morning.. I asked everyone who was sick this morning with the same big to raise their hands.. how’s that for team work ?
Our famous ‘mini washing machine’ .. one of our interesting innovations for the week. Can’t go into the background here, but we managed to create this demo out here using a rasberry pi, an LCD screen we got at fry’s.. two plastic kleenex boxes from our hotel rooms (which we shaped using steak knives from room service) .. and a bezel cut from the “do not disturb” sign for the room).. All running some really, really cool distributes Io software that our team has created.. this little box is the the worlds first distributes IoT device that leverages the bitcoin blockchain. THis is goign to be huge folks
If you don’t know about the blockchain. it’s the amazing technology behind bitcoin and other cyber currencies. .. our approach which we call ADEPT. is using that technology to enable devices to contract with one another much as people do..
the thing thats letting us do that is soem wonderful open source software called Etherium that was created by 20 year old Vitalik B. We were lucky and honored to have Vitalik with us this morning to get his help on some future issues. it has been great working with him…. i’m really looking forward to working with him in the future on his projects.. and ours.
Around 1 PM we were doen with our meetings.. and it was time to take everything down.
As I walked downstairs i remembered being in that same room last may when I got the call from my mom that my dad had pneumonia.. an was not goign to recover. I stood in the spot where I was standing them and though of my dad.. and wished him peace..
I spet the rest of the afternoon walkign around the conference with my new friend Leo.. which was great.. saw enough of this place to last me a year… .. even ran in to several Colony fans as I walked around. here’s one of them.. nice guys
Things closed up around 4.. I walked the 2 miles or so back tot eh hotel.. showered.. then met my freinds for one last team dinner
We had a quick light meal.. then walked back to the hotel..
Then.. it was time to split up. . veena, suma and sanjay went off to a show.. YunJung headed to the airport, and I went back to write this.. and managed to overflow my bathtub in the process.
What a week…
fun.. really…
nite all nite sam
