Tuesday night – debate

Just got home from a night working at Homer’s.  It’s past 1Am and too late for me to stay up and post pictures. I came home to find Diane still awake and painting !. We’ve (that’s the royal we’ve) changed the grey color one more time and it looks good. That was a ton of work she did tonight…

It’s been a good evening.. it started with Gabe’s soccer game at 5. He scored 3 goals.. he tells me that’s called a ‘hat trick’. wonder why ? Three corner hats ?   Then we came home for a good quick dinner. Diane had made a cake in honor of her mom Marcia’s birthday (Happy Birthday Marcia !).. Then I was off to Homer’s we are mostly finished with the creature.. but there about 100 small finish up things before we ‘dress’ him and ship him to the forest. Tonight we spent the time finishing up all of the electrical stuff associated with the creatures mouth and eyes.   We were listening to the debate with the  creature’s mike turned on.. so I have some movies of both Barack Obama and John McCain’s voice driving the robot. pretty funny !

It was wird hearign the candidates speakign about the finacial crisis .. I’ve really been so unplugged from the news  and other media, movies, books, erverythign since Sam died..   I had no idea until tonight what was happenng in the markets. .. and frabkly, I have trouble carring about it.. the bottom fell out two years ago forr us.. this doesn’t even register…

What does register is my need for sleep.. More tomorrow. Gnite for now folks.. nite Sam

Sunday night – fall colors

I spent another full day with a paint brush in my hand staring at the wall. I’m really glad we’re doing this.. though the change in surroundings is hard for me.. Change like that always is..

Well.. we actually did get out of the house briefly at 5.. We went all the way up the catamount trail with the dogs.. It was a perfect fall day walk..  steep, colorful .. great spicy smell of leaves. It’s almost peak foliage out there.

We came across one of the Samstones we’d left long ago.. It’s always nice finding these small reminders ..

We came across this weird/spooky tent someone had made in the woods out of old blankets. and burlap sacks. . it looked a little ‘blair witch’ for us.. but it was empty..   (does it look like it’s smiling to you ? )

Well.. one goal of mine was to try and finish a draft of the paper I’m writing  this weekend.. No luck there.. I barely got any time on it this weekend. I thnk I’ll go work on it now.. Wish me luck …  Hoep this week is sane..

Saturday nght – Tesla

Strange day.. I spent most of it spacing out with a paint brush in my hand. I was feeling pretty low.. so the manual labor was really therapeutic. Diane and I did  manage to get out of the house around 3 for a run/wal up honey hoolow. It was a perfect fall day..

I took a quick swim in Honey Hollow creek… it was cold.. but not too bad.  Diane put a SamStone there at the swimming hole

Tonight we went with Gina and Bill  to hear a monologue my Mike Daisey about  my hero Nikola Tesla.. Daisey is an amazing storyteller.   He mixed in segments of Tesla’s life with stories from his own bizarre childhood to weave a really entertaining and touching portrait of both his and Tesla’s lives.   He told the same story that I use in y own monologue on Tesla (“High Tension: the lofe and tiems of Nikola Tesla ..) but his had some more himan elements. I really loved it. I you get a chace to see Daisey perform.. go see it !

I felt bad because..the focus light from my camera distracted him and he had to ask me to put the camera away.. I felt bad.. but he recovered nicely.

It was a great night out.. but now I’m beat..gotta sleep.. More tomorrow !

Thrusday – zzzzzzzzzz

Oy..you know you’re getting older when a single 2:30 AM night makes you dopey the next day.. I did this for years without feeling it .. or at least pretending to not feel it. .. My late last night on the robot  has kept me from thinking about much today..

I worked at home this morning with back to back meetings from 8AM ..  did get outside for a short run. On my way I go to see the local ‘hunt’ across the street.

Over lunch I did another show… It’s only Oct 2 and I’ve already hit my Jleigh  imposed budget of 2 shows per month.  this time for a bunch of kids studying Spanish in schools.. I did the intro in spanish.. but I don’t think the kids were that far along. Mygoal is eventually to be able to do my whole show in spanish. i have a lonnnnnng way to go !.. 

Anyway.. it was fun.. in fact. it’s one of the most fun things I do.. there are times when I’m performming when I reach this sort of transcendence.. I don’t think anything makes me happier.. that’s kinda cool

The rest of the day was absolutely packed… It’s a really interesting time at work.. I can’t go in to it here.. but it’s exhausting…

I got out of work just before 7. then met Diane and Gabe at Bridge street for dinner with friends.. then came home. Gabe couldn’t wait to show me his latest remix. he’s getting to be awesome at audio mixing. I’m going to see if I can post one of his mixes here.

That’s about it for the day.. now.. on to the innovation journal.. just 2 more days…

1. What, if anything related to innovating occurred for you today?

Not too much.. Diane looked at the video for the haloween monstor and suggested soem refinements to the head and neck. At the vary least we need to make him look down so folks can see his face when h’e s fully standing.

2.Who else was involved (knowingly or not!) in what happened for you onthat effort today? (Please don’t forget to include ST chats, emailexchanges, etc.)

Diane and I brainstomred a bit.. then Homer and I branstormed a bit.. .. Jana weighed in later in the day. we are all still thinking

3.In general, do you feel more optimistic or more concerned about the potential / likely success of this effort today than yesterday?  Why?

To sleepy to think about it that much

Lack of wakefullness prevvents me from coming up with anything new..
