Greetings from the bakery aisle of the local hannafords grocery store. It’s 11:30 pm and I’m here picking up muffin mix for his student council meeting tomorrow morning. I think Diane will be up before 6 helping him cook. I’m glad she’s a morning person.. I’m not !
I think I’m the only person in this store right now. No one will mind of I snap a picture of the bananas
Or if I pole the Gouda
Would I snitch a donut ? No one around here to see.
Ok.. There’s really no way to make a midnight grocery store any fun… Guess I’ll head home.
Nite all nite sam

What a gorgeous day.. over 70 degrees and sunny.. this could have been a summer day. I took advantage of the beurtiful weather by holing up in the tower and working on three reading and writing assignments I had from work š .. Actually… I have to say I enjoyed it very much. I spent the time really thinking hard.. which isn’t something I’ve done muchĀ in the past 30 or so years.
Here’s the stack of paper I managed to force my way partially through today .
I read a bunch of it out in the sun, laying on my back on the skateboarding ramp.. so I wasn’t that much of a trolll
Really not much more to report today.. i did get a cute picture from one of my shows last week. one o the kids managed ot make me younger by dropping the beard.. I wonder if IĀ should ?
Happy st. patty’s day folks.. the day that everyone is irish..
One cool thing today was freind Chris’s Leprechaun.. to be burned tonight. Chris makes these things out of wood scrap , bark and pyrotechnics (that’s where I help).. Chris made this guy all by himself using hemlock boughs to bring out the ‘wearin o’ the green’ .. He’s made of old fencing and lath and is stuffed full of birch bark and pyrodex..
Here’s the drawing he used as inspiration.. pretty amazing.. no ?
After seeing chris, Homer came ofver and we woked on our latest BIG project.. we made great progress today.. more on that as it evolves..
We couldn’t be at the burn tonight because we’d gotten tickets to see freind Jack (on the left)Ā and Zev (on the right) dancing in an Urban Dance Workshop at Higher Ground.Ā First we had dinner at Victor and Patti’s .. then we went down to the venue. The productionĀ was a Hip Hop rendition of the musical Chicago.. and it was absolutely amazing ! We saw several kids we knew in there. .. Very. very cool
I was looking at my post for St Paddy’s last year to find a certain picture of Sam wearing his Flogging Molly shirt.. the sign of the irish that was/isĀ in him.. When I found the post, I realized that last year, i’d looked back to my post in 2008 to find this one picture.. I liked what I’d put there then .. so.. with permission.. I’ll replay it again ..
Here’s what I wrote:
I went back to my post on this day in 2008 to fund this picture of Sam… He was wearing his Flogging Molly shirt.. .. I think it’s the last shirt I saw him wearing.. it’s a great Irish Punk/Folk band that he loved.. Here are two pictures that Sam R took one day..
And hereās a cool version that Sam R made of the same photo
What a beautiful, beautiful kid
That band pays a wonderful song..called ‘If I ever leave this world Alive’
Max played a beautiful version of it on the night of Samās Memorial at Memorial Auditorium..
If I ever leave this world alive
by Flogging Molly
If I ever leave this world alive
Iāll thank for all the things you did in my life
If I ever leave this world alive
Iāll come back down and sit beside your
feet tonight
Wherever I am youāll always be
More than just a memory
If I ever leave this world alive
If I ever leave this world alive
Iāll take on all the sadness
That I left behind
If I ever leave this world alive
The madness that you feel will soon subside
So in a word donāt shed a tear
Iāll be here when it all gets weird
If I ever leave this world alive
So when in doubt just call my name
Just before you go insane
If I ever leave this world
Hey I may never leave this world
But if I ever leave this world alive
She says Iām okay; Iām alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right
She says Iām okay; Iām alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right
Yeah should be alright
I had a great experience today. At lunch time I met my friend David at the Vt. school for the Deaf in St. Albans to do a jolts and volts show for the kids there. Dave and I have done this a couple of other times in places across the state.. though this was our first in abut 4 years.. and our first in St. Albans. At this point , Dave knows most of the show and does it himself.. in ASL.. Dave can’t hear, but reads lips pretty well.. so we tag team on the presentation… basically I jump in when he’s about to electrocute himself. One of the interpreters helps me follow what he and the kids are saying.. after a few min, I forget that we’re not actually all speaking out loud.. it’s very cool. These kids were so in to science. They had already gotten some of the science concepts in class.. so they were asking all the right questions. We improvise for the few parts of the show that have sound.. I had a PC based oscilloscope program showing the sound waveforms on a video projector.. and I had one of Sam’s old guitar amps to shake the table to the sound. That way the kids can feel with their bodies.. works pretty well.

near the end of the show, dave was hooked up to the vandegraaf and reached out and shocked me .. on purpose .. on the back… I was so surprised I swore loudly … I instantly covered my mouth in embarrassment.. A half a second later the interpreters were all laughing so hard they almost fell out of their chairs.. The kids.. thankfully.. didn’t notice a thing and were watching Dave..

if a scientist swears in the classroom and no one is there to hear… did he really swear ?
