Friday night – Confusiasm

Just back from a 9 hour round trip to Bennington to see what truned out to be Gab’es last Lacrosse game of the year. They were in the quarter finals.. but they came out 2nd in todays match. (ie. they lost).. It was a tough end of the season.. a 3 hour drive through pouring rain, a cold wet game which they did not win  and a 3 hour drive back.. I’m not sure why I say this.. but it was actually fun..   Maybe it was hearing 3 grown and very smelly  boys in the back seat singing horrible parodies of adele, taylor swift and dolly parton.. between dub step and rap numbers..

On the way down I had plenty of time to think.   I was trying to find a word to describe one of my new found interests around linked data and sensors. They are two concepts I know pretty well, but haven’t really thought about them together. I found the combo both confusing and exciting.  I came up with a word ‘Confusiasm’…

Wouldn’t you know, someone has already logged confusiasm in the Urban Dictionary.  It describes confusiasm as

To be very excited and enthused about something that you do not fully understand. A mixture of confusion and enthusiasm.
Joe showed incredible levels of confusiasm when he expressed how excited he was about going out.. but didnt know where he was going.
Tom – “I cant wait to see that film!! its gonna be the best!”
Chip – “why?”
Tom – “I dont… know…”
Chip – “thats some confusiasm you are showing there…”

Sometimes I think there’s nothing new in the world.
