Tuesday night – Auld Lang Syne

About to close the book on 2013. In the Hebrew calendar the year is really marked as a book… Everyone hopes to be inscribed in the ‘book of life’. I hope that you and your families are inscribed in the book of life, in the book of love, in the book of neat socks drawers or the book of whatever matters to you.

I’m feeling strangely sane right now… Which is a good sign even for me. I’m feeling pretty solid and looking forward to the new year.

All three boys are out of the house. Max in Brooklyn. Gave out on the town and Sam… Of course is in our hearts.

This time year always brings back memories and it is my tradition to listen to more traditional version of Robert Burns Auld Lang Syne (click here to hear it) ) it’s supposed to to be closer to Burns original melody. I am holding a samstone And listening to it now

Should Old Acquaintance be forgot,

and never thought upon;

The flames of Love extinguished,

and fully past and gone:

Is thy sweet Heart now grown so cold,

that loving Breast of thine;

That thou canst never once reflect

on Old long syne.

CHORUS:
On Old long syne my Jo,

in Old long syne,

That thou canst never once reflect,

on Old long syne.

My Heart is ravisht with delight,

when thee I think upon;

All Grief and Sorrow takes the flight,

and speedily is gone;

The bright resemblance of thy Face,

so fills this, Heart of mine;

That Force nor Fate can me displease,

for Old long syne.

CHORUS:
Since thoughts of thee doth banish grief,

when from thee I am gone;

will not thy presence yield relief,

to this sad Heart of mine:

Why doth thy presence me defeat,

with excellence divine?

Especially when I reflect

on Old long syne

Its actaually about how love banishes grief… I

L take that..

All the best for the new year all..!

Monday night – new years eve eve

The day before the end of the year…doing soem reflection and some intention setting. All in all 2013 was a peaceful and productive year for me ..like any year it had its joys and sadness.

I am greatful to be where i am in my life and surrounded by love of family and friends.

As i look towards the next year.. There is not much i would change. My only clear intention is to seek a little more peace in my life and perhaps by doing slightly fewer things and doing them better.. Or perhaps by being more joyful and playful about all the things i do choose to do. Ill try a little of both.

As the year closes, i hope you have a peacefull new year..

Sunday night – that old house

One of the things I learned during our nice visit to my folks is that our old house in Houston is up for sale. It’s had several owners since our family 40 year stay there.. the owners between us have modernized, cut down trees, painted, changed just about everything but the basic shape of the house…

i looked ut up online and found these pictures. It was strange to see our old, comfortable and very modest house all dressed up for sale..  it was like seeing one of your quiet classmates from high school suddenly show up in a slick magazine..    i’m glad it’s looking good.. and hope someone nice buys it..

I have so many memories of this place… ..

i just hope they had a bomb squad go through and clean out my little lab in the garage !
