Monday night – trip back

Woke late today and lounged around the house until we were ready to go. It was nice hanging out with Marcia. We eventually headed back towards vermont around 2. We stopped by to see Uncle Armond. who just turned 90.. and is as sharp as a tack..

as we drove past,  i snapped a quick picture of the cemetery where my father in law Gabe and his mom Perrine are buried  It’s the mausoleum in the center of this picture.  .. On the way down.. I had honked as we drove by.. It’s kinda nice to be able to see where they are up there..

Honking reminded me of one of Billy Collin’s poems..  .. it’s called.. ‘No Time”

No Time

By Billy Collins

In a rush this weekday morning,
I tap the horn as I speed past the cemetery
where my parents are buried
side by side beneath a slab of smooth   granite.
Then, all day, I think of him rising up
to give me that look
of knowing disapproval
while my mother calmly tells him to lie back down.
though Gabe would never of dissaproved.. he would have liked it, i think
nite all. nite sam
-me
