Wednesday night – Odessy

Last night was crazy.. I took Geoff and I 8 hours to drive back to vermont because of the terrible conditions. I have to say it went by fast because we enjoyed each others company so much.. I dropped Geoff off at his friends house at about 1:30// then carefully drove home.. I made it to the Jonesville bridge. which had not been plowed.. I made it a few yards up on the bridge, but then got stuck in the front wheel drive rental without snow tires, I was able to back down.. but managed to slide backwards and end up sideways in the road, just about off the railroad tracks.. uh-oh…

By then it was 2AM.. I was laughing pretty hard as I chopped at the snow with the window scraper.. With that and some perseverance I was able to turn the car around and drive down to the Jonesville postoffice where I abandoned the car and starte walking. In this one 34 hour day I had traveled literally half way around the world by plane, bus. train .. and I had to walk the last 150 yards.. It was pretty cool … ,like the end of a good adventure movie !

I finally crawled into bed at 2L30 and slept like a rock…

Tday was good.. playing cathc up on many fronts.. Speaking of catch up.. here are soem pics I’d promised from my last day in Kazakhstan.. including the Tech Garden Forum, ITS University (what a GREAT  place !!) and the Brew Mix pub afterwards.

Now really enjoying being home !.. Tonight Diane and I spent a couple of hours helping Travis, Steve and Nick with the new lighting display at Echo.. It’s going to be awesome !.. (if only we had a few more weeks !).. Travis deserves so much credit for all the work hes done in designing and executing this.

one funny thing as we finally got home around 830.. Midday Diane had suggested that I move the prius because fo the sleet expected tonight. I remembered to do it thanks to her reminder. We got home to find a large ice covered limb of the tree had fallen just where it had been parked.. Smart girl that Diane !
