Sunday night – the eagle has landed

Perfect fall day today. Diane and I took off early to drop by On The Rise on their second to last day. We wanted to pick up sticky buns for Gabe. It was cool looking around in there.. The place has been very much part of our lives for the last 10 years. There’s even a samstone built into their chimney. We wish all the best for Rachel and Ben in their next adventure..

to run Libby’s Loop on the Preston reserve. Its a steep climb and descent.. we made it in about 45 minutes.. not bad !. The view from the top was amazing. It’s getting to be  peak foliage at the higher elevations now.   Sorry I idn’t take pictures.. it is hard o run with my phone on those rough trails

After our run, we left immediately for Fritz and Betsy’s.. they had invited us to go out on the lake wiht them in their boat. It was so much fun !. we all drove to charlotte.. where fritze ferried us all out to the boat

Fritz sailed us around on the lake for the next 3 hours. it was pretty quiet.. and peaceful out there.. perfect weather.. what treat !

too soon it was time to go in..   Again fritz ferried us back.. and we all headed home

around 5:00 I went back into BTV to pick up Gabe. Today was our friend Jack W’s Eagle Scout ceremony. Jack is such a great kid i was so proud of him. There was a nice crowd gathered in the green to watch Jack get his award

lots of folks spoke about the eagle scout path and about Jacks accomplishment . Jack got to give his parents a pin, and they got to pin stuff on him.. quite a cool family deal.

here’s the sign for the richmond green that jac made for his eagle project. it’s really nice .

there was so much talk about eagles.. it made me want to repost the picture of the eagle I took in our backyard last june..

ok.. gabe is visiting us tonight.. I want to go spend some time with him.. so I’ll end here..

more tomorrow. nite all, nite sam

Saturday night – I fall for that girl

Diane and I both love Fall so much. She’s the one who makes sure we get out in it when ever we can. We took a  3 hour hike up to Harrington’s View on Bolton today, then hiked down the rugged and beautiful ‘Goat Path’ Th eleaveswere beginning to change and it was gorgeous.

midday I went over to visit our friend Jimmy. He’s just back from a trip to the south east where he placed a bunch of Samstones. We started walking through his many pictures to get the samstone placements. He’s such a good friend to take Sam on his trip like that..

While there, I enjoyed seeing his Ariel TV’s (as opposed to TV Aeriel’s)

I spent the rest of the day .. about 8 hours so far.. working on an upcoming talk. Making progress.. As always.. it starts on the yoga room floor !

OK.. its past midnight.. enough work for one day..

friday night – ‘stash

Just back from a really nice evening at friend Jared’s house. His dad Joel and Jared;s friend Rich and Richie were there with Diane and Me. While we talked, Jared whipped up an amazing meal  of chopped salad, braised Brussels sprouts and wild mushrooms and pan seared skate.. Like a fine restaurant.. but no need to leave a tip (I hope)..   Great conversations tonight too on the topics of poverty, kids, health, hiking.. and a long riff on Play that I initiated to hep me think through my talk.   Many thanks to everyone there for a really thought provoking evening..

The rest of the day was insanely busy and productive.. but nothing I can go into here..

that leads me back t last night.. a very nice dinner at marcia and matt’s. The theme of the evening was mustaches’.. I think we all carried it off well !

ok.. can’t keep my eyes open any longer. More from tomorrow

Thursday night – Happy birthday adam and eve

Today was Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year. the anniversary of the creation of adam and eve in Jewish mythology.. I no longer feel the  pull of goign to Shul on holodays but I still find them moving and important. I celibrated today by takign a long walk in the beutiful woods with diane and the dogs. Outside is my ‘shul’. I was surrounded by the wonder of nature and the people (and dogs) that I love.. thats what life is about.

as is the tradition, I hope all of us are inscribed in the book of life and have a sweet and happy new year
