Slow day here.. Took a while for the house to get moving today… Not much to report.. my mom is here.. which is nice.

My one accomplishment for the day was to turn off the back up beep in our prius. It used to be as simple as flicking the odometer button back in forth in a certain sequence to signal the car to turn the beep off.. btut sometime around 2010 they turn off that simple work around. Now it requires an OBD interface and some white knuckles programming..

 

I found some info online.. then jacked into the car.. and here is the conversation we had (my typing is at the >’s

Believe it or not.. that did it !>.. the car now makes one small plasant beep when you with into reverse.. rather than the ear splitting 'beep-beep-beep ----' 
 the funny thing is.. at no point in the exchange did it ask me who i was or whether I had permission to make such a change..

we had  really peaceful and slow day… i only left home once.. and that was to get my mom  at the airport..

the boys woke around 9:30 and we did our christmas celebration.. nice and slow..

 

THedogs always look forward to this morning.. they instinctively know there’s good stuff in there for them

we broke mid morning for breakfast.. lo and fresh home made pbred.. all served on the multi layer pizza thing that gabe welded for us with Max’s help.. It makes me so proud that the boys are such good makers !

max and gave also collaborated on a cool laser cut image of our house as it appeared 60 million years ago..

 

that wasn’t the only laser cut present.. the rope dart game made for max had sam’s name (in man hieroglyphs) laser tech in it// I gave max a fire breathing bottlee that I’d etched his  name and some sam art on using the laser.. and max gave me a really cool phone case he’d made … and laser etched with a giant squid.. and my favorite Japanese phrase. (GAMBATE !)

 

it truly was a laser cut christmas !

 

I picked up my mom around 2:30 .. and she spent the rest of the day with us.. she kept us entertained until it was time to cook dinner. Gave and max had suggested seafood palely.. it was quite a production.. so delicious !

 

 

 

its now about 10L30 and we’re winding down..

This morning we heard the really sad news that our friend Rob had just died of a heart attach He was in his late forties with a beautiful family Marcello, Dom. Lea Bela and wife Lisa.   Gave and Marcello played lacrosse together for years and through that we got to know Rob and Lisa.. he was the perfect fan.. he was enthusiastic and fun.. I can’t even think of how many times we hung out at games or on lacrosse trips and talked.. he was such a nice and fun guy… ‘

everything can change in an instant…

that news put us in a quiet space all day.. Thinking of Rob and his family.. They are well loved in our community.. so I’m sure many others are sending their love today..

Later in the day .. we decided we needed to get out.. so the four of us hiked  up camel hump in the warm weather We dedicated the walk to Rob and his family.. and talked about them on the way up and down..   it sstill seems so unreal. 

ok.. it’s christmas eve.. trying to find that spirit in me..

Somehow Chanukah slipped buy without us getting a single latke.. We went to Ben’s famous latke party but only after the last spud had been fried .. I have to admit.. it really didn’t feel like the holidays without that one overindulgence in fried food..

 

so tonight.. we made amends .. diane fried up three different sitting of latkes for various folks who showed up through the night.. the place still smells like a fry house.. and our stomachs are too full to move.. ..

it was great !
