tuesday night – Unser Gemüse

It’s 3:30AM.. here in Munich. I had a good work day.. went out to dinner with work friends, then came back to the hotel and had a whole ‘nether work day by myself.. Ugh.. the trouble with traveling this direction is the US work day goes late and generates lots more stuff just in time for normal bedtime..

Dinner was a hi light.. we went to a crazy sports bar with electric go carts.. I couldn’t  stay for the carts (too much work) .. but the food, beer and company were really good.  .. it’s not an easy place for a vegetarian  like me..  one thing caught my eye in the menu.. Under the place you would normally find ‘vegetables’ .. was a section called  ‘Fleisch Unser Gemüse’(‘MEAT: our vegetables ‘ in German) there was a bunch more meat .. Gotta love that kind of sense of humor.. (my pizza was great though.. )

ok.. gotta get a couple hours of sleep

Monday night – munich

Greetings from Munich. Back here again and like it!… Got off the all-night flight and got out of the showergot on the train  andwent straight into all the days of meeting.

By 8 PM I was seeing things I was so sleepy. Got a ride back to the hotel trying to stay awake long enough to go to sleep .  I think long enough is now… Not much to report from here today because we were inside the whole time… But there’s a nice blanket of snow everywhere. People are friendly and it’s nice to hear german. I can imagine my language getting back to being pretty good

I can’t hold a thiught  together in my head I’m so sleepy so I will spare you my attempts to do so

Saturday night – Domo arrigato – destroy roboto

Very peaceful day. Spent some of it making some repairs in the shop.. Fixed my new tesla coil so it can play music while throwing 3 foot sparks . (Scott- either the decoupling caps on the pots or  load resistor across the optical transmitter fixed it.. not completely sure why, but I can run it up to  100% with full modulation with no problem at 10 feet. It still glitches at 4 feet.. but I was glitching too at that distance.. too close to that mean spark !)  ,I also fixed my old Theremin.. it had a blown JFET in the volume atenna circuit.. bad mix of antenna, high impedence input and proximity to lots of high voltage toys.

(wow.. that was nerdy)

Spent a good hur sleeping by the wood stove with the dogs…    then later tonight, Gabe and I headed over to Chris and Kim’s for the delayed Solstice burn. Chris showed us his new angler fish mailbox.. wow !

Chris had taken two of the wooden candles he’d made for the solstice and made them into the coolest looking robot .. complete with blinking eyes and a copper heart

there was a short fire dancing show…

My contribution was the ‘splitter’ (ferro-titanium filings) that make the pretty sparks you can see here.

Chris lit the robot using a rope dart

If you look carefully, you can see the robot’s copper heart glowing red here.. the camera saw it.. but you couldn’t see it with your eyes.. pretty cool

now home and about to head to sleep.. I needed a day like this
