Wednesday night – Memorial memorial

This eveing Diane and I went to a wonderful ‘good bye’ party for the Generator.  we’re beign forced to relocate because our host building, memmorial Auditorium is closing down. The old buildign was built during the Depression.. It’s been a convert venue. sports hall, community center, … and the home of 242 main music. the community pottery studio and our own Gnerator Makerspace.

Wthe buidlign is being closed due to structureal problems … Luckily , we’ve foind new digs down on Searsl Lane in the south end. It’s goign to be a wonderful space for us.. bigger, . more fit to purpose and tins of free parking !.

still.. I’ll miss Memorial.. it’s a special place for us. We helpd Sams memorial in the auditoriium.. and the dinner afterwards in the room that now houses generators.. It always feels good to me standing in that place and seeign how much love and creativity we’ve built there ..

Tuesday night – pre 1927

My friend Matt surprised me a few days back with a really nice picture of our town.. jonesville… soemtime before the flood of 1927

You can see what a thriving town ir was back then.. our house is clearly visible in the picture.. about midway up and about 1.4 the way from the left edge.     You can see the covered bridge over the winooski river.. and the bobbin factory on duxbury road. The Bridge, the factory and at least half of the buildings in the picture were washed away or damaged on November 3-4 of 1927  when the Winooski came out of its banks. The story is that the bridge you see here  was washed out and carried down the river.. and took out the bridge street bridge in Richmond 3 miles down river.  ..

The barn across the street from us wa washed into the street and our house had about 3 feet of water. We can still see the line of silt when everwe have to open a wall on the back corner of the house..

It hasn’t happened again in part thans to the winnoski damn in bolton and the little river damn…  Damn glad !

Its cool to see the buildigns that still remian.. the motorcycle shop.., the formaer bombardier farm.. but not the barn.. the post office..

i love our town..

Monday night – Pat’s wake

This afternoon, diane and I attended our freind Pat’s Wake at Giffords..

I always have trouble walking in that place.. though i have great respect for what they do.. they are there for everyone in town when they need it most. .  they helped us when Sam died.

Pat’s whole family was there from 2-6.. the whole town probably showed up soemwhere in there.. We were there around 3..

The funeral card said it all. on the front ahanndsoem picture of Pat..  he looked jsut like that from the day I first saw hi.. i think in 1980.. until the week before he died..

on the back was perfectly captured the way he spoke. he was a true taciturn Vermonter.. who’s face always said what he was feeling.. even when his moth wouldn’t 🙂

Pats whoel family was there.. it was good seeing them all.. There were lots of pictures in there.. too

including this one of us.. the same one is on my mom’s fridge at home, i think .

Im lookign overat Pats house now as I type.. it’s dark there now.. I cansee the christmas tree lit up in the back yard.we’re really going to miss him..

Rest in peace freind..

Sunday night – ramping up

I did a pretty good job of stayign away from work this past week… and I needed the break. The 10th anniversary of Sam’s passing, Our clsoe freind and neighbor Pat’s passing.. Thanksgiving.. That was all hard emotional work..  lots of tears, love and even soem laughter.. thats life.. lots of work.. never boring ..

I spent the entire day ramping back in to the work …. not a bad trade off.. one day on for eight days off.

A weeks worth of email, a bunch of loose ends to close  up.. some thinkign I’ ve put off. it feels pretty good.. actually..

ok.. i’m goign to sleep before i think any harder today..
