I got a great call today from an old friend.. and an old boss.. My friend Pep hired me into IBM in 1981.. I hadn’t seen him in at least 15 years. He had called me month or so ago out of the blue to reconnect. Today he called me to tell me that he had some electronics components for me. Iwe arranged to meet in Williston. After taking the nicely sorted box of transistors and resistors we sat down for a beer and an hour of reminiscing. Man it was so much fun going down memory lane with him.. He is quite a character. He left cuba right as Castro came to power. His family stayed in Cuba because they worked for Castro personally.. Pepe told me the whole story about coming to Florida at age 14 with only a tiny bit of money.. and how he managed to get his way to college…    We talked about work and old friends  from the early 1980s// I remember he always used to say ‘it’s a jungle out there’…. with his thick cuban accent.. he was really fun to work with. now he’s retired and doing pretty well .. his passion is metal detecting.. in the spring he’s going to come here and see what treasures he can find around the old schoolhouse. .. I’m looking forward to that !

Just back from quite an adventure. Donald Trump came to burlington.. and I wanted to be part of the group that was there to show him that Vermont didn’t need his message of hate and intolerence .  (wait.. if I’m intolerant of intolerence.. what does that make me ?  )

 

I met up with my buddy Tim for a night out.. we started by heading down Church street to see if we could find the buzzz

 

 

didn’t take us long. Evidently there were about 20,000 folks signed up for 1800 seats..

Tim and I ducked into halversons for a bite.. .. we managed to catch some of trumps talk on periscope..

after that I dropped Tim off and headed back to the Generator.. I had 150 more light up Bernie signs to make on the laser.. demand has been through the rough .. we’re making about 2000 of them. Thanks to Jeme for developing the procxedure for drilling the signs.. and thanks to Devan and Jake for keeping me company last night.

I’ve been having good fun with our new WeaherUnderground connected weather station. One of the coolest features is that it takes a 24 hour timelapse of the house every day. It’s fun watching the day/night/day sequence.. I really love the snow melting here about half way through

I just saw the most amazing things.. I was driving on the Hutchinson Parkway on my way to  Lagardia from Westchester . I saw a low clearance sign of 9 feet ahead.. as I came around a curve I saw a low bridge.. then I noticed there was a ton of junk, concrete, steel , and insulation in my lane.. I had already slowed down.  eth roof of the bridge was shredded with insulation and concrete hanging everywhere .. As I came under the bridge I saw an 18 wheel truck that had come out the other side of the bridge.. it’s top was sheered off, the trailer was collapsed, the cab was intact and the driver was sitting there stunned but fine.. Everything was still… so it must have happened a minute or so before..
