Saturday night – finding winter

The ground is covered with a few inches of snow like it should be this time of year .. but we haven’t had any big storms or deep cold . It’s the second year in a row with basically no winter . That’s weird for us . Winter is basically why people like us love Vermont . It’s the time to climb around Jin the woods of crampons, skis or snowshoes and pull ice Lea from your beard . It basically the reason we have beards !
In finding it hard not to have a real winter . I’m still running rather than snowshoeing. So today we decided to go look for winter
We headed to camels hump Nordic ski area which is about 8 miles behind us in Huntington to see if we could find winter

It was there . The trail system there is about 1000 feet up … about 700 feet higher than us .. and that made all the difference . Where we had 3 inches of snow .. they had 6 . That was just enough to pretend it was winter . We were able to cover about 5 miles on skis without once seeing bare ground . That’s good enough to pretend it’s winter .. and that’s all I need !

Nite all, nite sam
