Sunday night – light bulb moment

Hello fro somewhere south of Iceland. Just barely made my EWR->MUC connection due to weather delay of my flight from BTV.   Funny thing , i ,.. had to duck under the half closed airplane door to run to my seat.

WOke today with my mind spinning .. mostly about work..   but not entirely about work. I did wake up wondering if the switch in the light fixture in our mud room was actually broken as we thought.. or it was a bad bulb. .. SOunds silly I know.. but in this time of LED bulbs that never burn out.. a bulb that wont turn on has got to be the switch no ? .. Well. I figured I’d try.. turns out the bulb was the last @#$&$ing vacuum florescent in the house.. wouldn’t you know..  I screwed in a new LED bulb and BOING !. it was on..

TUrns out the switch needs replacing soon too.. it’s intermittent.. but if you pull it a few times.. it works fine.

Good metaphor for solving problems.. I think I solved one about my future today.. as well. we’ll see..

Saturday night – Connections

Fun and busy day.. Our new friend Rana is in town visiting.. We met at the Me Converntion in Frankfurt a few weeks back.  she came out to the house around 9:30 and we hopped in the car to meet other friends for a hike. On the way we stopped at the  Huntington Town Hall to see the art sale several friends were showing at. .   Very cool scene in a very cool building

We met our freinds Kim and Kathy .. and Bill and July .. and their dog Kota at the top of the App gap.. ..

it was a short 1.5 mile hike in to Molly Stark’s look out.. Great view.. and great conversation .. I’ve wanted to introduce  Bill and Julie to Kim and Katy for a long time.. both have connections to MIT (Bill and Julie graduated from there, Kim both graduated and teaches there) .. All four of them are very hands on science folks. Rana is a an amazing techcnial artist and fit right in.. The conversation was amazing !

here’s a shot of Rana’s amazing hair..

bill and me

the conversation varied from biology, to emotive artificial intelligence, to e-eink fabrics and voice powered programming for kids.. really fun and inspring talking to all of these folks !

after the hike we headed over to Bill and Julie’s studio..

there weer so many connections today.. Turns out that Julie had made a hologram of Kim’s very famous advisor and friend Harold ‘Doc’ Edgerton..

the hologram was actually an intergram.. as yu moved your head you could sewe Doc breathing !

We then looked around Julies art and bills lab.

last stop for the Madsonian museum created by David Sellers..

You can learn a little about it by watching freind Ryans funny visit with Dave

Bill and Julie had a nice ehibit there .. Bill’s plasma sculpture and Julie’s  holograms we’re beautiful to see !

then it was time to head home.. really great time !
