Thursday night – Marcia

My wonderful mother in law Marcia Lou Mariano died unexpectedly this morning in her home in Endicott, NY. She’d been ill with heart disease for several months. We knew that her time was coming, but no one expected it to be so soon. Diane and I were down here last week helping her get set up for home care. She wanted to stay in her home.. and she wanted to be free of pain.. and she got both wishes..

I met Marcia  and my father in law Gabe in 1982 when Diane and I first  started to date . From the g of moment I met them , I really loved Marcia and Gabe. they were always so warm and welcoming.

Gabe died in 2014… and Marcia has lived alone since in the hose Diane grew up in.   Thats where we are right now.

Marcia was kind, generous and fun. She was always making something. She painted, knitted, did ceramics. her house is still full of all her crafts.. its strange  sitting here looking at all of that

We drove down here today as soon as we heard.  Before we left I took pictures of the pictures of marcia we had in our house.

Hannah and Deb generously lent us their 4wd car to drive as the snow was coming down.. and piled us hight with snacks for the trip .other of our  friends reached out to . which we so appreciate .

It was snowing like crazy so it took 8 hours to drive. by the time we got here we were pretty spent . My brother and sister  in law Joe and Pat were here  as were our friends Linda and David who’d made us dinner. It was great to see them

we looked through pictures that Marcia had around.. many i’d never seen

TOmorrow we’ll stsart figureing out what happens next with the service wetc. I’ll keep folks posted.

for now. thanks to everyone for their love and support..

We’re really going to miss Marcia.. We loved her so much

  1. So sorry to get this news John. I do not know Diane all that well, but I do remember her always present smile when she worked a big blue. She always seems so happy… Even in the photos you take of her to this day! To Dianne: my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
    Blessings and Love,
    Paul Kruse

  2. Sending all my love to you, Diane, and the boys. You were so blessed John, to have such a kind, loving mother-in-law. I know you loved her and am so sorry for your loss.

  3. So sorry Diane, John. It is never easy, but I hope you take some measure of comfort in the fact that you helped her to go on her own terms. My thoughts are with all of you.
    Pete D.
