Today we got a call back from ROn,t he store manager at BestBuy. He confirmed that someone else had come in to the store on tuesday. The guy claimed to be Gabe and even showed the online receipt with the right barcode. We don’t know if he was asked ot show ID as requested by the email.. I’m guessing he didn’t. 

 

Whiel the guys at BestBuy have been polite and helpful, they say there’s nothing they can do for us. Technically, the laptop was already ‘ours’.. in that it was paid for.. and the guy who picked it up did have a legit receipt…  I was / am pretty angry that BestBuy is not takign more responsibility here.. I’m going to speak to the regional manager tomorrow. If they don’t step up.. they’ve lost our business forever. 

The Bestbuy manager.  suggested we file a police report..   which we did. We  called Williston PD then documented everything about the purchase and went in to the Williston Police Station where we met with Officer Trybulski. He’s a really great guy. He’d already been in to view the security camera footage.. we got to watch it too.. pretty creepy ! They’re getting more/better images tomorrow… 

The very curious thing is how soemone got a copy of the receipt. The only thing we can figure is either its an inside job from BestBuy.. or … less liely I beleive.. gabe or my computer is compromised.. and some sort of bot mi ned the info from our email…. 

Next step is to file a claim with our  insurance.
