Very slow and peaceful day .. went out for a hike around Libbys lookout backwards today with the dogs. We had to where crampons due to the think ice.
We heard that the weather was going to be partly cloudy then mostly cloudy.. got us wondering what those words meant.. like.. what’s the difference between partly sunny and partly cloudy ? it it just a pessimist vs an optimists view of the weather ?
well. here’s the answer according to the national weather service.
Super busy day.. noting the sudden change over from audio only to video conferencing .. I’m gonna need to ge soem different color sweatshirts for my time at home 🙂
at 6 we zoomed out to All Souls way down in Shelbourne .. 35-40 minutes in wintery mix of weather. All Souls is a beautiful non-denominational meditation , music and worship space.. Founded by John and Mary Abele.. Mary suffered a stroke last Fall . With John’s love and support she’s getting better.. with a long path to go. being in her space brought her very close to mind tonight.
The program tonight was a ‘gong bath’ presented by Andrew N. The basic idea is you lie down and he plays these amazing gongs.. and you are literally carried away by sound.. It’s really magical (even if I used the time to formulate a presentation I need to make next week 🙂
Now .. 40 minutes drive later we’re snug in the house as the weird spring like rain and wind goes on outside..
perfect time for my second bath.. this one with hot water, a new New Yorker.. and a glass of fine Rum that Max ands Becky brought me from Havana
Despite a jam packed day of phone meetings.. I managed to squeeze in two face to face events her in vermont.
the frist was an awesome visit to LogicSupply. . They are baed her in vermont and make a really interesting range of hardened industrial computers. . I gave a talk to the whole vermont part of the company . THe mood and culture there were really wonderful. After my talk I had about an hour to talk wit them about IoT and Machine learning. I learned a ton.. and hope they enjoyed it as well. I’m so glad we have companies like that in vermont !
later on this evening I went to a career development event for the Engineering college at UVM. I got to hang out with students for 2 and half hours. It was SO MUCH FUN.. it was interesting to hear what everyone was working on.. and where their interests were. It felt like about half of them were doing machine learning,. which is pretty cool !
Woke just after 5AM to get Gabe to a plane. He’s out at his first grad school interview in Oregon .. Driving home was able to watch a beautiful sunrise.
super busy day with nearly 100% phone time from 8:30am – 7pm .. did manage to et out for a short run with Diane.. it was freakishly and wonderfully warm .. we ran into this guy
I took some of my calls outside just to soak up the unusual spring like weather .. the grounds still frozen..a nd there’s still snow.. but it was time for shorts and barefeet !
around 1:30 it peaked at almost 71 degrees F! (the average high for this date is 22 degrees F!) .. but then a front came in and the temperature plummeted and the barometric pressure shot up. it was so cool to watch.. here it is courtesy of my weather underground weather station .
it’s cooler now.. but we’re still sleeping with the window open.. spring is in the air..
