Spent an amazingly fun day at the MIT media lab .. It’s like a homecoming .. I worked at the Arch Mac group.. the precursor to thw Media lab in 1978-80 Todays meeting was a showcase of all the cool stuff the ML is doing. and it’s VERY cool stuff. We’ve been asked not to share it on social media.. so I’ll oblige.. but I will say that it’s a very nice pattern for organized chaos
the view from the roof garden of the media lab
a zillion cool demos
ran into my freind Harry
and met one of my heroiine’s Joy.. who ‘outed’ the issue of bias in AI facial recognition
then met for a great dinner wiht part of our team.. mark, ben. dimitri and kristjen.
Spent a good day at work while Diane enjoyed hanging out in Cambridge. Went to a nice cocktail party where we met Martin Gardner, the author of the Multiple Intelligences’ books.. Then had a really nice dinner with our friends Sara and Dan Not much more to report.
Diane and I are down in Cambridge together. It’s so good having her with me ! We got down here in time to meet our friends Elsa and Cyril for sonnet . I got to use the free meal i won in the vindaloo curry eating contest a few weeks back !
Afterwards we met up with our friend Tyler from home.
It’s so fun showing Diane what my life is like down here
Diane and I spent a good portion of the day cleaning out the upstairs rooms… They are now all fully serviceable. We still have so much junk in this house… Does anyone want any?
Around 11 Avery and her mom Jen came over. Great catching up with them
Outside was beautiful… Gray skies highlighting the few leaves that are left
We had a weird surprise with a group of nurses in strange costume stopped and asked if they could jump on her trampoline. They were part of a weird scavenger hunt for charity. Pretty fun
It was almost 2 by the time we got up to hike. Foliage is mostly gone but it’s still very beautiful hiking. We decided to go to Harringtons view up on Bolton mountain. There are parts of it that are pretty steep so we weren’t sure of chai was up to it… But we ended up Running to keep up with her.
Later this evening we drove out to Starksboro to Tim and Priscilla where their son leaves birthday. He’s turning 31. Really nice gathering
