Friday night – madmen

Ok.. im kinda in shock.. diane and I just finished watching a show.. Madmen… 7 seasons..  end to end.  Now were done.. what do we do ?,?,

i gotta say .. its only the 2nd tv show I’ve watched end to end in my grown up life ( he other was breaking bad)

im am bill lost .. I got so involved in the story that I cant quite let go.. madmen was my childhood

My dayd worked as a madmen in the 50s and 60s.. he worked at ag ncies lke mcCann and gerstner .. henhed 4 martini lunches ,,my mom used to take us to dobbs ferry to pick him up..

this show reminds me about facts  around my childhood in ardsley ny.. that I never knew

i remeber enough..

he had 3 martini lunches

he loved us my dad was SO happy to hang out with us and let off steam ., he loved our westchester suburban life

He created things…

he shaped (then) modern culture

 my dad was Don draper…

actually he was Harry Crane… the media tv guy.. but I didnt like harry all that much.. my dad was admerable.. he had values

im a product of all that.. I remember the ads  .. I appreciate them

watchingnthisnshiw helped me.

the righting was amazing…

it caotured the age..,

it caotured my youth

It was tru, fun and uncomfortable

I loved it

Wednesday night – drained

One thing about the days I work at home.. is that my hands can be busy while my head is on the phone. .. Todays conference calls involved installing a dimmer.. and a very long ordeal replacing the drain in the kitchen sink..  it started leaking like crazy last night..  turns out the drain hardware had rusted to pieces..

my knuckes are bleeding, my ego is bruised.. but after several hours and several false starts we now have a new working drain..

no wonder Im feeling drained !

Tuesday night – town meeting

Like any good vermonter I took this morning off work to go and fulfill my civic duty and attend our towns town meeting. the first Tuesday in March every town in the state coems together in some  public buildign to elect officials, discuss issues and transact the towns business.  FOr richmond its Richmond middfle school.. where all three of our kid went.

we all stood for the pledge of allegiance liek we were still in middle school .

I’ve been doign it along with all my freinds for 37 years. Tiday was a pretty calm meeting overall. the main issues were the passing of the town budget, (passed)  the school budget (passed) , a water main project (passed) and a motion to consider a new combined fire , police and rescue building (deferated) .. there were several slect oard seats up for vote and a new library trustee.

here’s the ballot

It felt good to vote on soemthing meaningful.. politics in this countery are SO messed up these days.. at least here it still matters and people are trying to take care of one another.

the gym was full. about 160 peope I think.

the city scape must have been scenery for a play.. it was a fun and ironic backfdrop for our tiny towns select board

hard not to notice the average age here.. ..

I saw so amny freinds.. heard so many montions, raised my hand, shouted Ay.. did all the things that makes rel democracy..

boy di it feel good !

nite all,. nite sam
