Spent the day with our new friend Ana… She’s here visiting from Minnesota and his good friends of our friends Karen and Jeff. She’s here doing an intensive immersion course on wood working at yestermorrow.
First order of business was to hook Ana up to the new Van de Graaff

It’s so fun getting to know a friend of your friends… We had a very relaxed day. We went out to Little River State Park and did the history trail… One of our favorite fall walks
Wonderful getting to know Ana… She said she’s a walking book on tape… Love her stories
Fun and productive day… It included a task force meeting at the University of Vermont, a successful dental appointment… And the receipt of a new Van de Graaff generator. Here demonstrated by our housemate Kyle

The last part of the day was the IEEE annual awards dinner. There were almost 60 people there to see our local chapter give out engineer of the year, teacher of the year, student of the year, etc. We had a nice dinner and then I let a panel talking about renewable energy in the state of Vermont. We had five speakers … All of them were very good. We had plenty of active conversation… Which included some laughs and some disagreements… All the elements that make up a good panel. I knew it had gone well when I actually had to shut it down because we ran out of time. That’s what you want and a panel
Today is a day I look forward to every year .. it’s TechJam .. a really wonderful celebration of local tech companies put on by my friends at 7days . its the brainchild of my friend Cathy R . All the companies their are hiring and come together to show their wares and talk to job seekers . I’m always proud of the tech our little state has hiding in the hills
We also had a very productive meeting of our AI task force and a meeting for public input.
Our roommates Kyle and Hunter woke up before dawn this morning and climbed up Bolton to catch the sunrise. They climbed the Fire tower… They found a Samstone at the top… I think I probably put that they’re almost a year ago…
