First things first!… I want to do a shout out to my aunt Sis and uncle Phil You are celebrating their 69th (!) Wedding anniversary today… What an amazing milestone!… We love you guys ! (This picture is from last year at my uncles 90th birthday)
Nice day… It’s the day before the day before Christmas and all through the house… We decided we were going to do our annual climb up Camel’s hump a couple of days early because the next two days are going to be crazy weather… Not crazy as in cold and snowy but warm and rainy. If we do believe the weather it’s going to be 61° here on Christmas day. That’s about 40 or 50° warmer than it should be. We took advantage of the beautiful snow today to climb up our favorite mountain. ‘Kyle came up with us Before heading down to her parents for Christmas and New Year’s.… We got to the Mountain around 8:30 in the morning and started hiking. Before too long we ran into a really good friend Lou. The four of us liked up keeping socially distant.
It was such a beautiful and sunny day. Pretty frigid at the top… With about 0°F windchill
We brought two small sleds which were really fun on the way down
There weren’t a huge number of people out on the trail today but we did run into some friends
The coolest story is that every year for the last three years we’ve climbed camels up on Christmas day. Each of those two years before we ran into this woman named Jessica and her dog chance. We’ve had such a nice interactions with them. She calls me Santa (because I was dressed as Santa of course) and we talk about our day and our years… Well this year we didn’t expect to see her because we’re taking our hike a couple of days early. So did she. I was coming down on a sled and she said Santa… And sure enough it was her. It was so great to see her and chance !
‘Diane and I were driving through town this afternoon and we saw this guy standing on the corner… He was still there an hour and a half later. It was great to see someone in the Christma mood
Tehan and I just got off of a Richmond select board meeting… Our towns recreational parking problems came up again tonight… And Diane and I were both drafted to work on a five person committee to help look at comprehensive solution is to recreational parking throughout the town.… I know it’s not going to be easy… But we would both rather be part of the solution then just complain about it.… Wish us luck
Today Is the solstice… The shortest day of the year… And it was also the peak night for an amazing celestial alignment between Jupiter and Saturn. Unfortunately it’s totally cloudy here and we couldn’t even get a glimpse. Luckily Max and Becky were able to get a really clear view of it and threw a neighbors telescope they got these pictures using their phones.
Pretty Amazing…
More amazing is that it’s going to start getting lighter… And boy do we need it.
Sending love out in the world to all the folks who need it.
