Looks like we’re goign out of town again !>. DIane and I have decided to slip in a quick trip to Germany to see gabe and celibrate our 40th Anniversary.   

I’ve been working as I travel.. but some  thigns requitre hands on work… so i’m workign some long hours this week to move soem projects along. 

One back burrner project is to modernize the 1949 windtunnel demo I made for work several years ago. THe windtunnel itself was a phyics demonstrator from 1949. It was goign to be thrown out when UVM merged its phucs lab into one of the CEMS labs.. I was glad to inheret it..

Originally I made a very cool retrofit of the demo.. it used to make smoke by heating oil and pushing the smoke through a bunch of nossels.. 

It was beutifull.. but was a bear to maintain. the smoke gnertor kept breakign down, the smke fuid (pro[llene glycol would condense in the electroncs and tubing.. I was always having to repair it.. I finally had my freind Arlo bring it from work to my shop where its been sitting for al most a year. I’ve tried to find a replacement for the tempramental smike generator.. but anything that involves chemical smoke, is goign to have the same maintaince issues we’ve always had…

so.. ‘m takign a new direction.. my freind Ben at work found a very cool project on instagram by a really smart guy named Cesar Giminez from Brazil . Its a 2d wind tunnel simulator called Kutta  that uses lattice Boltzmann methods to do n approximation of. windtunnel

So.. my idea sis to run that code on a raspi and embed the screen in the original old device.. 

not nearly as cool as real smoke.. but should be fun anyway !
