Greetings from Nairobi Kenya. I’m here for a few days on a work gig that I’m very excited about. I have to say it was quite a long trip getting here.. 7ish hours to London then 8 and a half hours here.. As I’ve often said here, I love these long plane rides. I got a ton of work done.. Until I exhausted my batteries then I read an entire book and watched parts of several movies. I’m still not a big fan of tv even when its the only thing to do.. About 3/4 the way through the second flight though, I ran out of things to work on l. And even ran out of things to think about.. That’s actually a wonderful space.. I simply sat and didn’t think about anything.. A rare and lovely luxury.
I got in late this evening, so I haven’t seen anything of this town.l but so far I really like it. The open pile are really warm, friendly and laid back.. . I had a great talk with john, the taxi guy from the airport. He and his wife are expecting his first kid in just 6weeks..
The roads out to the airport could have been anywhere.. But the roads back near the hotel look a little more like India.. I think it will be so cool to look around tomorrow . I’ll send back pics of anything cool I see… Honestly, I’m more excited about the work thing right now…
Ok.. Time for sleep.. More tomorrow..

Greetings from JFK.. I’m on my way to Nairobi.. Been in the arport for about 6 hours.. and I don’t think I’ve even moved.. just sat here and worked.. Now they’re calling my flight.. how’d that happen ? Gotta board… but efore I do.. I want to say “HAPPY SUMMER” TO gABE AND ALL THE OTHER FRIENDS OUT THERE WHO’S LAST DAY OF SCHOOL WAS TODAY.. i CAN STILL REMEMBER THAT TRANSCENDENT FEELING of turning in that last test.. and knowing the whole summer was layed out in front of you.. I still get a contact laziness just thining about it..

I spent the day getting reedy to go. It was one of this small projections into the future.. Where your entire today focuses on the tomorrow coming up. I guess in this case it was warranted . I’m going to be in Africa all week.. And that takes some getting ready… No doubt… Still l I’m looking for a bonus today when I get back to make up for the time I spent thinking about tomorrow
Actually.. I didnt spend all of my time getting ready today,.. I spent some of it working with Diane on clearing out all of the upstairs bedrooms.. We now have all 5 bedrooms free of storage and junk,. No small feat. The biggest job of that.. Was taking care of a bunch of SAMs stuff. We have boxes and boxes of his..and our lives.. Just before he died… All the way back to before his birth. School papers, umbillical cords. Poems . Teeth. Cap guns. Clothes.. What does one do with that kind of stuff ? Everything can’t be a relic.. We have to move forward… But the thought of throwing stuff away is equally hard.. As diane says though .. Were throwing out stuff.. Not him….
In the end we made great progress today.. Stuff all boxed and tagged for posterity.. Until the
next time we need to go through it…
Happy brith day gabe.. 17 years old…amazing . You are such a great kid.. I’m so proud of you…I love the way you brain works..I love your smile.. It’s really wonderful hanging out with you. I’m so glad you’re my son… ,
We just had birthday cake at 11:30 at night..now that’s a fun birthday.. We love you gabe !
