Monday afternoon – Jleigh

I just learned that my good friend Jleigh Howard passed away this morning at Central Vermont Hospital.I found out that Jleigh wasnt feeleing well the week before last.. I went to see her in CHV, .. I called her dad today to see how she was doing.. And she had just passed away.

Jleigh and i have been friends for about 12 years . We worked together closely at IBM. jleigh was always funny, happy and optimistic no matter what life threw at her.. She helped me through some of the toughest days of my life.. I will never forget .. She walked down with me to my office the first day i came back to work after Sam died.. She open the door and stayed with me for a long time as i cried my eyes out..as i looked at all the family pictures on the wall..

She loved her family.. Loved her friends and loved her dogs. She worked for years with Pug Rescue..

I still cant believe shes gone.. I will always remeber her and her wonderful smile and laugh…

Sunday night – Night Riders Sam Cohn Award

Today was the end of the night riders competition a bolton. Both Sam and Gabe were up at Bolton every Wednesday night competing.. Just about every hoodie an, pair of goggles and backpack we have in the house they one op there on the mountain. This year, Gabe has been up there on Wednesday nights just for old times sake.. ..

Today was the end of the season.. they tally up the points and give out prizes.. It was a beautiful dy up there.. snowing and not too cold…

it felt like old times.. .. I think I’ve been up there for more than 15 years. ..

after the rail jam, Gabe,Burk and I went in to hang out. but before we got comfy. they called us out for the awards ceremony

 

 

Good thing we got out there.. Gave placed 3 for the season in 17 and over.. th.. they celebrated by spraying cgrape soda over each other !

 

 

 

Last award was the Sam Cohn award…. our 8th one..  Its an  award the coaches give out to the kid with the best mix of style, athletics and spirit.. This year it was Trevor.. an 8th grader at Mills River.. Really nice kid.

 

Jeremy gave a really nice intro to the award and told a little about sam

After that we headed home. I showed gave the new iPhone controlled headband and goggles i made this weekend.. pretty goofy !

Saturday night – the party of the Century – Happy Pi day !

I woke at 9 .. well rested and restless at the same time. Diane was off working at a show with deb.. there was something I had to do today.. O oh yeah…

PI DAY !!!!  . today was 3/14/15 .. the first 5 digits of Pi.. and that only happens once a centruy. I looked at the clock and saw it was 9:08.. I had to find some Pi !> I got half dressed and jumped in the car and sped into richmond.. My only hope was the ‘new’ bakery ‘Sweet Simones’ .. i’d never set foot in there.. but i hoped to heck they had Pi(e).

the ladies there were so nice.. they had forgotten it was pi day too.. but quickly adjusted their aprons with masking tape to convert their two ‘S’ loo into the letter Pi..

and Pi’s.. they had !>. lemon cream, apple and coconut.. I grabbed a coconut

we then counted down to 9:26    nthe next 3 digits.. taking us to

3.141592653….

Yum !

With that behind me.. the day was already made. I went home and spend a box from spark fun to find my bran new Raspberry Pi II ! ..

Coincidence… nah!

i happily puttered through the day.. a radio controlled blinking headband and blinking goggles.. played with the dogs and took  them for a run up the Catamount trail  run in the rain.. the first rain I might add  of the year..

Diane got home around 6.. later on. we headed to our friends Jeff and Biz.. for a really nice, really geeky Pi day finale.. Savory Pi’s at 7:30.. sweet pis at 9:26:53 of course !

It wasn’t hard to find the house.. jeff had made his own Pi Projector !

Then finally the big moment came close.. We counted it down just like new years.. .. at the mark.. we all dove in..

 

What a great and kgeeky way to celebrate one of the truly transcendental holidays of the century. Hope you all had a good Pi day too !

Friday night – lounge lizard

greetings from the united lounge at LGA.. I’ve been here about 4 hours into a planned 7 hour wait.. long story.. but I was so desperate to get home early that I zoomed to the airport to catch an earlier flight home.. I had been told that there would be no problem getting on that flight. As fate would have it.. there was a problem. The flight ended up being oversold.. and I didn’t make it by one seat.. Hence a 7 hour wait..

 

Luckily.. I’m always welcome in the united lounge.. which means all the chocolate covered raisons, carrots and cheap bear you care to eat and drink. In fact.. I think Hell might be designed like an airport lounge.. tons of food that you don’t want to eat.. Chairs just uncomfortable enough that you don’t want to sit.. enough  noise  to keep you awake.. but not intereststed..it certainly feels like eternity.. (

(no offense I hope to my more religious friends.. just speaking metaphorically here )

I’m making the best of it by sitting here NOT thinking of anything..    which I really. really, really need to do ..

 

Long . interesting.. sometimes fun. sometimes frustrating week

 

I’m gonna get some more of the raisins ..
