I had a great maker day today.. I spent the day creating a pair of bluetooth controlled light up goggles. I bought a ‘kit’ of sorts form adafruit that came with two LED rings and some funky burning man like goggles. It was designed to be used with an arduino ‘trinket’ a vow cost arduino clone. I want this to be cell phone connected, so I created my own code for an rfduino chip that has a built in bluetooth low power radio Then I created a simple IOS app using Cordova.. Not much yet.. but I can turn the goggles on and off and control them from the phone.. Fun !
Next I’m going to hook them to BlueMix.. should be fun.. Watch this space !
You know.. moist of the time.. I dare say all of the time.. I’m not in Cairo.. but I’ve never been more not in Cairo than today.. I was to have spoken (remotely via Skype) at a Makerfaire event there today
It turns out that there was an accident in which the driver was hurt.. I really hope he’s ok.. . My thoughts go out to him
that completely changed the schedule and i didn’t get a chance to speak. I did get to see some cool pics on Facebook and twitter. It looked like a really great event.
I spent the rest of the day putting in the lab.. and went off a fast snow hike up libbys lookout with the dogs.. Had to do a snow angel up there.. because it was just so beautiful
OK.. time for bed..
(OK relaly.. time for tv with diane.. we’re binge watching a new show !. Heres !_
Rare treat this afternoon. My friend and colleague mike trick celebrated his 25 th year at ibm today.. And about 100 prople turnedout to congratula te him. I went to grad school with mike.. And his wife xia-wei. It seems like yesterday I simply cant beleive hes been here that long. Funny thing is that both he and xia-wei look and act. Just Like they did at cmu all those years ago . It was so great. To hear all the stories that mike and everyone else shared today…
