Saturday night – level headed

Hello from my parents house.. my moms house now. Gabe, our freind Jack and I are here for the night. Gabe and Jack are off to a school trip to Wyoming tomorrow.. and I’m off on biz travel. Before going. .. we decided to have another  look through some of my dad’s stuff. One thing I found that really spoke to me was this  my dad’s level.. he was a level headed guy afterall. thsi si one of the tools that my brother and I were constantly using and misplacing.. much to my dad’s chagrin..  think he ultimately was glad to know how much we both learned from his tool box.

I also found a saw that was a favorite of mine as a kid. and there were other treasures.. a belt from my dad’s time in japan (1950. i think)

I also found some great clothes including this fab hat !.. Breaking Bad ?

We then all headed out for a great Mexican meal..

now.. trying to get soem sleep before my 5AM flight. More tomorrow from the road

Thursday night – year of transistions

I apologize for being so brief last night. Low batteries kept me from doing what I had planned wrt. summing up 2014.. As it turns out.. it was a welcome reprieve from having to put words around how i felt around last year..I had to do some more thinking on it today… and I’m still searching for how to best sum it up..   If I had to sum it up simply, 2014 was as a year of transitions. The thing that looms largest in my mind is the death of both of our fathers.. First Diane’s dad Gabe died in January .

Then my dad, Hugh died in May

Both of these guys were good friends and advisers to me.. both were gentle and kind spirits.. and both exited the world peacefully.   we miss them very much

I particularly miss my Dad when I need advice.. he was a great inspiration to me

We also had some very good transitions.. Gabe graduated from High School in June .. and  Started at the University of Vermont in August.. He’s enjoying it and doing well..  .

Max continues to sharpen his making skills in Brooklyn. He moved off the boat.. and  had some great travel experiences this year

Diane is in many ways our constant … she is the calm center of all of our chaos… helping the rest of us think clearly and organize to face the world.

My work continues to be an always changing mix of interesting and challenging stuff.. .. it too, is in transition as my rotational assignment in corporate  comes near its end..   I am proud of what i got done this year.. and really enjoyed meeting so many new folks around the worl.

I don’t know what 2015 will bring.. but I’m calm and optimistic.. / can’t ask for more than that !

Let make it a a good year for all of us…!

happy new year everyone !
