Saturday Night – In Albuquerque !

We left home about 4AM… dropped the car  which  Jen offered to pick up later.  Our flight out to Albuquerque was very smooth.. got lots done on the plane
Max and Becky picked us up at ABQ and we headed to lunch at Frontier.  It’s an Albuquerque landmark . Its a huge place with counter service with great southwest food.  Its got a great vibe.

From there its about an hour  back to Max and Becky’s. It was fun seeing all they’ve done on the house and yard..

One of the new additions is two new rabbits: Lestat and Claudia (after the characters in anne rice’s interview  with a vampire),

Later in the day we went to an event at Max and Becky’s friends at Stark Raven makerspace. Max and Becky helped build a burning man piece there  called the Fear Beast. It was one of the best pieces on the Playa last year.   ( you can see soem pictures i took in this post) Sadly, the lead artist Tigre chose to take their own life shortly after the burn. It was both moving and cool to see the piece again and talk to some of the makers behind it .   Here are soem pictures of Tigre and the Beast from last year.

Here are some pictures from tonight..

The space was crazy cool.. and so were the people in it

The lead fabricator Cassie is an amazing woman .. She also helped with the fab and maintenance of the Tree of Tenerife

There werw peices of the rtee all over the shop

I’m so impressed with the art that comes out of this onew shop !

I love santa fe.. and I’m so happy max and becky have built a life here !

Wednesday night – hands on

Another beutiful morning. Dianen and I got out for a quick hike in the beutiful snow.. before its supposed to dissapear due to coming rain

Around midday I met up with my friends Beth, Shannon. Lelani , Rayan and Biannca who were working with some kids on some cool science visualization toys that Beth had found.  One of the projects used mechanical devices to show circuit concepts. . A kid (or adult) could build simple mechanical circuits to understand the physics of what was going on.
THe second set used falling ball bearings to explain digital logic. You could build up simeple logic circuits and understand the boolean calculation that was going on.

For both of these , The constructed projects were beautiful and fun to play with.

We had several kids there evaluating the learnign toys.
I think these would be great to use in small groups. I’m hoping to get muy friends Greg’s view of them when i’m back in at work
