I was taking a run this morning when I saw a guy about my age riding an ebike.. a few seconds later I heard this huge crash and looked aroudn to see the cyclist on the ground bleeding. He had somehow miscalculated the turn and hed hit the side of a small car waiting to turn off of wes white hill.
I ran back to help.. the guy was bleeding heavily from his nose.. but seemed otherwise uninjured despite the hard hit. The door of. The car was completly caved in. The driver was a young woman who was on her way to her first day of nursing school.. as soon as she saw that the cyclist appeared to be ok (ish) she took off… I decided to stay with the guy.. until he could get help. He introduced himself as Randy.. he called his girlfriend to come get him… and we walked back to our house.. he was still bleeding.. but otherwise seemed uninjured.. amazingly
we had abotu 30 minutes to talk.. turns out he recently moved to Vt (warren ) after many years of living in dc. He is a musical producer and has helped stage shows all over the world. He was a really nice and interesting guy… I never got his last name. His gf came , we got his bike on the car.. and the two of t hem left..
it wasnt till this evening that I saw the f ron pt porch forum post form our police cheif Kyle K asking iff anyone knew anything abotu the accident… I sent him what I knew of randy.. but still didnt know his last name etc
We had another great work day at the Fluffy Burning man bus. Friend Rebar had invited a bunch of our friends from Beta to come and help. We got a great turn out..
The project is much more fun when there are lots of folks around
Today we had a hostage exchange.. seems I’d accidentally taken the wrong baking sheets home after passover at Ben and Tatti’s.. w I tool their bent hollow cooking sheets while they had our high top sheets.. Dianes favorites.. to make matters even more dire.. they had kidnapped our can opener.
Wa rranged to meet in a neutral place with and met their ransom demands aof Dianes freshly made cookie. We each presented the prisoners.. and made the exchange.
I knew the can opener was ours because I had it’s handle.. I did the cinderella test and confirmed it was ours.
I surrendered Ben and Tattis weird baking pans for a ransom of Ice cream and Mate
then we retired to Bens lab to see his latest project. He’s restoring a 100 year old player piano. The process is amazing.. it requires weird components like hide glue and rubberized paper
I was able to connect ben to my cousin Bill G who lives in BTV and has also restored player pianos.. THey’re getting together to swap techniques.. It’ll be so great to see them work together on this. its a HUGE project !
We used the day to reclaim the yoga space.. ever since I cleaned out my shop we’d been storing stuff to give away up in the yoga space… today we cleaned it all out… most of it went out in the front yard with a “free” sign. It made us happy to see the stuff get used.. and it made us really happy to get our space back in order. Here’s n after and before
Here’s what it looks like now
Here’s what was up there before I moved back into my shop
The day ended nicely up at debs.. nice small gathering.. great friends and as always great food !
