Diane and I did some of our civic duty today . we participated in a village walk audit for our town. It’s a program started by the AARP to look at the ‘walkability’ of your town.

To set the tone, We shared this postcard we found .. It shows a futuristic  view of our tiny town of Richmond.. as envisioned  in the early 1900’s . The funny thing is we found this postcard while looking through an antigue  show in Pennsylvania.
Today we had 8 citizens broken into 3 groups looking at  sidewalks, crosswalks and.. uh.. something else..
it was a 90 degree and humid day.. so not many walkers

d iane and I were on the crosswalk team.. we checked all 9 crosswalks in town. Honestly, I’d never spent much time looking at these crosswalks.  I was impressed that we had so many warning signs, blinking lights etc.. That said, we did find a bunch of things that need addressing. The biggest issue was that paint in the most used crosswalks needed redoing..

We all gathered to compare notes afterwards.  W’er collating the results to give guidance to our town planners who are applying for some grants.
We are doing another one of these walk next Sunday in our own little corner of town.

The flight gods were working today so I made it home by about 2:30.. It was so nice to see Diane.. We decided to go hike bolton with Kyle and Hunter.   It was a beautiful night.. we needed jackets and there was still some snow up there… much different from Nashville’s 95 degrees !

It’s so nice to be home !

Morning came early after last nights bar time.. everyone looked ready to go home.

We had about 4 hours of demo-ing… and then it was time to wrap.. literally. we had to bundle up teh demos to ship back. it was a dfun group event

Once things were wrapped up.. we headed out for our last meal together.    Party fowl hot chicken .. luckily.. they had mac and cheese …. and ducks !

It wasnt only the chicken that was hot.. it was 95 in nashville.  After  lunch, most of the team headed ot the airport.. we had our own plane (Paldis pc-12)    and our freind Pooter was going to fly everyone home. I’d made my own plans to fly commercial… so Lexi and I headed back to the venue to help load out everything. >. It’s always fun to see a venue like this get taken apart.. here’s where we were.. I searched it carefully.. and actually found a tiny ball bearing I had lost.. once I find something like that.. I know we’re done 🙂 Once we’d loaded the demos into the truck for our freind Steve to drive back to VT.. 

Lexi and I headed to the airport… I was excited to go home… but the ir gods were not aligned.. my flight was delayed enough that I wouldn’t be able to get home tonight .I booked my self in a an airport hotel and went for a run.
I then orded myself soem food from the bar (grilled cheese !) and a glass of wine.. jumped in the pool and called Diane.. we had virtual dinner together 🙂

Another  day in Nashville. I spent some time looking around the conference which was fun..

Afterwards we all headed back tot he same great brew pub Monday Night to look for Allies glasses.. and they had them !!!   We had a couple of beers and played some more corn hole.. I even kind of liked it !  I loved the building though !

Afterwards, we went to another wonderful restruenat that my friend Allie had found from a local friend. I think it was called the optimist.. A few minutes after gettign there one of the waitstaff came over and said.. are you John Cohn ?”.. it was Gabes old housemate Ula K !. She’s moved to Nashville to do the whole singer songwriter thing !.. It was so great to see her !

Wwe were looking for music next.. Ula suggested Dees Loungs a great country bar where she sometimes plays 

It was a great place.. really good country/Americana  band… with a great juke box and a pool table. Turns out that several in our group.. poster, vinvcent and lexi were really good at pool !

We headed down to broadway after that.. but it was about 2 AM and we were pretty beat.. so we continued on to  the hotel for sleep.

I was grateful for that 🙂
