Really nice day today… Gabe and his girlfriend Sammantha Arrived from Portland around noon and Max and his girlfriend . It’s our first time meeting sam and she’s awesome . Max and Becky showed up around six… We’re all here together in a socially distanced way… The circumstances it brought us out here together kind of random and funny… But it’s good timing. Given the pandemic we’re being very careful and recognize that we might not get together again for sometime so were using the time to celebrate all of the holidays but we’ve either missed or will miss together. Tonight was Halloween and Thanksgiving. That was really nice. The bittersweet part is that our wonderful almost 17-year-old dog Chai Is in her final days. It’s all kind of a weird coincidence but it’s all nice to be together and that special time in chai’s life.… We never thought she’d make it today. But she still here with us which is nice

Gabe, Sam, ‘Diane and I hiked Libbys while we were waiting for Max and Becky to arrive.… We got caught in a major thunderstorm which was actually pretty cool

Soon after Max and Becky got here Diane rolled out an amazing meal… Full turkey, stuffing, bacon wrapped green beans for the boys… Sweet potatoes macaroni and cheese stuffed salmon, and then apple and pumpkin pie for dessert  we can hardly move

We’re grateful for all the love that’s here and missing those who are not

It’s been a tough day… Chai is getting weaker.. she had one of her acupuncture appointments today and we could tell that she’s on her way out… She’s had a good long life…. The boys and their partners are both going to be home tomorrow For a trip it has been planned for a while… It’s both nice and sad that it’s coinciding with this time in Chai’s life

I’m so excited to see my kids

It’s going to be an emotional week

One nice thing today is it my friend Derek and his wife Jackie came by to say hi. They are up in Vermont for a couple of days from Pennsylvania. I’ve never met Jackie… She’s really nice. It was great seeing them both

Today my friend Pat Perry came over and set up the second heat pump for our house. These are amazing machines… And he’s an amazing wizard are figuring them out.

These devices both heat and cool. I’m still marveling at the fact that these devices can extract heat from the air Even when it’s -15°F outside. ). These things are called heat pumps because they are one of the most energy efficient ways of heating your house… But what I’m really excited about is that they also function as air conditioners. I get stupid when the temperature gets above 60° so I’m really looking forward to using this thing to help at least dry out the house and chill it down in the hot summers we get now

It was really fun watching Pat install both of these units. He’s really a pro.… The install easily and look really nice.… The best thing I can say about them is you don’t notice them… You don’t see them and you don’t hear them.They look like they’ve Been there forever.

It was fun watching Pat install these… And I even got to help. I did all the electrical work

I’m sitting here talking to the machine through the Alexa Right now… And it says hi :-)

I’m amazed at how easy and quick installation was… Pat also helped us figure out the financing so that half of the total cost of both of these was covered by rebates from Green Mountain power and from the Vermont energy.…I totally recommend busy times and I totally, totally, totally recommend that you talk to my friend Pat

I woke up at 4am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Like many folks .. lots on my mind.

It wasn’t worth going back to sleep since we’d made a plan to hike Bolton for sunrise with Diane and Kyle . We’ve been hiking Bolton every Wednesday and we knew it was gong to start raining early

Since i couldn’t sleep I used my time to escort two live trapped mice across the bridge to their new home .. the. I sat down to write some fun code .

At 5:30 diane and Kyle woke up and I e took off to the mountain
