Friday night – cool heat

Big news for today is that our friend Pat Perry started the installation of our two new heat pumps.

That’s an old friend of mine from IBM and he’s switch to putting in heat pumps all over the northern part of the state. He’s so good at it that he’s booked into next year… But it’s worth waiting for. He’s really really good and he really made us a fantastic deal. I’d be happy to connect him to anyone out there who is considering heat pumps

We took advantage of Two great incentive plans in Vermont to switch to heat pumps. One was from Green Mountain Power and the other was from Vermont energy efficiency… Together they paid for half of the cost Of our two heat pumps. The one that Pat and his buddy George put in today in a yoga space as well as one that’s going in our kitchen. The cool thing about these is they do the magic of being both heaters and air conditioners… And they do it in a way that is super energy efficient and quiet. Pat did a fantastic job of selecting the units for us and installing the first ones. He’s coming back next week to do the second which will be in the house.

I’ve just been testing the one in the yoga space and it’s fantastic. It warms the space up so much quicker than the in floor heat.… It’ll be so nice to be able to flip a switch and have the place either warm or cool as needed.… Honestly… I’m more interested in the AC aspect that I am in the heat.

After all. You can always put on more clothes… But there’s only so many you can take off 🙂

Thursday night – Dinner with Scott

Had a really nice dinner with my friend Scott tonight.

I took over some Vietnamese takeout and some beers and we caught up. I haven’t been able to see him much during the pandemic. Scott’s working his way through pancreatic cancer and I said to be pretty careful about Covid. Right now his family is all out of the house so I decided I’d stop by and we had a really nice socially distant hang out.… Scott has one of my favorite science buddies. He’s made a lot of the high-voltage equipment that I use in my shows. He also has some great chemistry stuff. Including this bag of zinc sulfide. You should be an amazing thing where you can get the stuff glowing with ultraviolet and then write on it with a red laser … Which actually makes the stuff stop glowing… It’s amazing

We came up with a scheme where we’re going to build some high-voltage multipliers. That’ll be fun for both of us

It was a beautiful night over there. Check out the sunset. I believe our sunsets are prettier because of the fires out west. Terrible reason to have them so pretty

Wednesday night – Passing peak

I always love Wednesdays because that means usually they were climbing wall. Diane ‘Kyle and I took off around five we’re determined to make it up there before sunset. It rained most of the day but the air was clear and bright. Made for a nice sunset .

Leaves heading up the mountain were reaching peak about mid way up. By the time we got to the ski area trees were tending towards yellows and burnt sienna. (Remember that crayon color ?)

Yes please fills my soul
