Tuesday evening – Heading down under

Found myself a park bench behind the hertz building at Newark airport. Used it as a place to relax for a sec and dribk my lasting cold Heddy Topper before starting the 22 hour flight to Sydney Australia.

I always drink a heddy topper before a long trip.. not sure why.. but it’s a nice tradition

Monday night – New DE’s

Fun day  in Armonk. I was  a speaker at the New Distinguished Engineer and Distinguished Designer meeting . Diane stayed with me here in the hotel last night which was really nice. We got to sleep in . and then take a run around the pretty grounds here. Around 8 she took off back to Vermont.

there were several good speakers on the agenda today in addition to me..

one surprise speaker was our CEO Ginni. She was really great . She’s so good in informal discussions

I gave a talk over at CHQ today.. and took advantage of my spare 10 min to go say hi to my old team there. Here are Kala. Jack, Karyn and Ronnie

after the resto fo the speakers,We all went to a nice italian place in Ardlsey.. the town I lived in as a baby..

their speacialty is home made noodles made ina  parmesian wheel.. flamed with cognac.. It was really tasty !

great catching up with a zillion freinds at dinner.. I ddin’t take that many pictures.. Here’s one of my fried Trinette.. whom I just learned is the daughter of my freind Beth.. the only mother/daughter DE pair we’ve ever had in IBM. How cool is that ?!?

Sunday night – Beckys Garden

We just spent a really nice day hanging out with  Max and Becky in Brooklyn. We stayed at Beckys because there was a huge party last night at Max’s place (Happy Robot). ..

Today was  pleasantly slow.. We made it out of the house aroudn 11 for Brunch at Deep Woods.. Some kind of Cajon place..   I had blackeyed peas and grits.. nothing like you;’d really get in LA.. but tasty.

I loved the names of the dishes

The big task for the day was to get Becky’s garden in.. I cut the grass with their funky electric mower.

diane helped plant everything

and we did some trellising in prep for some big growth  of these vines

the placed looked better and better through the day .

By around 7 we were hungry again.. we took a long walk to King Noodle and had another delicious meal..

It was so great hanging out with Max and Becky.. and Becky’s bothers dog Nimra.  Nice to spend time with them in their natural setting. such great people (and dog)

We got on the road about 9pm for Armonk.. There now in the Learning Center..  my favorite hotel.

nice to  have Diane with me
