I’m back in Washington DC>. after being here last night on my way back to Japan. (long story).. I did make use of the quick trip here to catch up with our old freind Matthew who’s in Law School here.. we went out for a beer and an absolutely awesome grilled cheese

Mathew was literally our first friend in Pittsburgh. I ran into his dad Steve in the check out line in a grocery store just days after we moved to Pittsburgh in 1981 for my grad school at CMU. .. Max was just 3 months old and we knew no one . .. though he didn’t have a baby with him, he was doing the ‘daddy rock’,, that wierd side to side thing you do when you have a baby in a carrier pouch.. I asked him how old his baby was.. he was surprised that i could tell.. we talked for a few minutes… he mentioned his wife was a grad student at Pitt, that their kid was almost 3 months old . then he left.. When i told Diane about it.. she asked if i’d gotten his name.. ooooops..

i managed to track her, then them down by calling and pretending I was a  grad student at Pitt too.. and the rest is .. as hthey say.. history…

so nice to be able to keep these ties.. !
