Sunday night – digging out

Spent the day spring cleaning.. and it felt really good (no pics.. I apologize… .. needed my hands to haul stuff). First we hauled the winter stuff out of the front entrance way back up into the attic.. that means the racks for holding wood, fire tools, wood carriers, sleds and kiss aall up the three flights of stairs.. Because it’s unheated.. and three stories tall, That room gets interesting use in the winter.. first its our ‘fridge’.. then a deep freeze.. then a fridge again.. then back to an entrance..

clearing that place required us to neaten up the attic to allow us to move the new stuff in without causing too much chaos. That meant about 10 trips up and down the three flights of stairs

once all that gunk was cleaned we attacked the closet off the entrance way, it’s where the storm windows are stored, so we needed it clean.. just from that small room we got three bags of throw away.. including 20 year old verge seeds, old text books , tarps, broken sports gear, and a ton of insulation

Once we had the room clean it was easy to see the graffitti that was in there. it had once been one of the bathrooms for the school.. I noticed someone had checked the equation 1/2 + 1/2 = 1.. Which must have bene as true in the 1880’s as it is now 🙂

once the closet was clean, we were able to take down the storm windows.. they are big and heavy.. each 7 feet tall, 3.5 feet wide  with 12 panes of glass.. (just counted.. there are 546 individual panes of glass in our house and its windows.. not counting the barn !) ..   This task.. putting the window up and taking them down is the most concrete measure of seasons passing.. will I still be hauling these things around in 20 years ? Yikes !!! time to find a tiny house !

once the windows were tucked away in the newly clean closet, we took the trampoline parts out and put that together.. Nothing reminds you of spring like stretching 100 or so steel springs into their places.. It was hard work.. but satisfying. I feel asleep on the tramp to celebrate..

By then it was 3pm and we declared victory.. not bad for a half days work..

it’s funny that working on the house like that . as back breaking as it is.. is sometimes the most satisfying work..

now for a hot bath !

nite all, nite sam
