Not much to write about today.. very. very busy over here in Munich ..
Got a good laugh watching this Colony sequence that my friend Javier saw on Mexican TV a few weeks back. I love seeing this scene.. it’s just after Diane appeared.. I was showing her around the the warehouse.. I showed her our flame thrower.. and she asked why we needed one.. I remember saying honey.. you need a flamethrower !
They found a guy with a really macho voice for me… .. pretty nice !
Tonight I had a funny coda to a story from yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon my flight from Burlington to New York was delayed for several hours because of an equipment problem down in Newark. By the time we landed in New York another plane was at our gate and we had to wait. By the time We got to the gate , the air bridge with stuck and we had to wait another 15 minutes
. By that time my flight to Munich was supposed to be taking off. I am enough of a veteran at these things that I decided to run for it anyway. I sprinted across the entire airport and got to the Munich gate just as it was marked ‘closed’. Arghhhhh !
I gave my best puppy dog look and told the attendant that I had run like crazy to get to it. This was high-stakes because the next flight to Munich was actually two days later due to all the weather delays.
The attendant at the gate was really nice. It turns out that the flight departure was delayed because of another mechanical issue. So she walked down to talk to the folks on the plane. It turns out thatThere was a place for me… But unfortunately they already given away my comfy extra special seat. She came back and told me that they would have to negotiate with the person who they gave my seat to and give them some sort of compensation for getting kicked out. I was like “No way!”… That person had earned the seat. I was just happy to get on the plane. I told him to let the person have the seat because I was going to sleep anyway.…
Fade to today. I finished my last meeting around 8 PM and I got a text from my friend Joe. He’s a good friend of mine who used to work at Ibm. He saw for my blog that I was in Munich and he was staying nearby.I suggested we get together for a beer along with my friends al and Tammy. He came over and over dinner was telling us about how lucky he was last night on a plane to get an unexpected upgrade. We did a little computation and realized he’s the guy to get my seat.
I currently waiting on a delayed flight to Munich and I noticed that I’m wearing khakis for the first time in 3 weeks.
. I have spent the last three weeks in jeans or sweats .after 3 weeks at home . The longest I’ve been in the us since. July !!! It’s been a good break.. it took me a long time … a really long time .. to unwind . I’m going into the year motivated and excited .. which I like (and need)
Hey flights about to board . More tomorrow from over there !
Pretty low-key day. Main activity was getting outside. Our friend Emily and new friend Nick came over with their very cool dog Ziggy. Ziggys a rescue greyhound and very sweet and chill. We really enjoyed spending time with them. We took a walk up catamount trail. There’s just enough snow to cover the trail which made it pretty.
It was beautiful looking at Honey Hollow Creek with all the ice
The other big thing I did today was clean my shop. It’s very cathartic to clean it… It makes me feel like I’m cleaning my mind. It’s still something of a mess but at least it’s organized…
