Tuesday night – CQLD

Just back from a great VASE annual meeting . The high point of the night was a talk by dr Martine Rothblatt the founder of Sirius satellite radio .. and it turns out many other remarkable things . Her talk was on the theme of CQLD : curiosity, question, love, do.
Really amazing stories.

I fell asleep on the couch as soon as I got home so it’s a little too late to write about it now.. I promise to tomorrow

Gotta drive early tomorrow. So going to sleep now

Nite all, nite Sam

Monday night – drop ins

Interesting day.. completely busy for work from 7 am till 8 pm.. with  three very differnt drop in visitors..

  1. first our friend James came by.. he’s just returned from a long trip that included watching the eclipse in Tennessee .., realiuzing at that moment he had to go to  Hawaii, spending time there.. and now coming back. He has to decide if eh wants to move to hawaii.. he came over to talk about that
  2. then Matt .. a very nice and hopeful MIT applicant came by for an interview. I’m one of 2  MIT Education Council members in the state.. so If you’re a kid who wants to go to MIT.. there’s a 50/50 chance I need to interview you first. Matt was really an interesting and fun kid to talk  to ..   he wants to study creative writing at MIT.. which is a surprisingly good idea
  3. Finally, our old friend Brenden came by to catch up. Brendan went  to MMU between Sam and Max .. he’s now living in Chattanooga and is doing natural gas extraction from municipal waste. It’s an amazing process. and he  and his biz partner have a really solid plan.. He tells me theres enough RNG (renewable natural gas) to run 10’s of thousands of households…. and its financially viable ! Amazing !

Funny to have all these folks dropping by in a single day.. !  the world is an interesting place !

Sunday night – Falling slowly

woke at 5am and got on the road by 6 to head home from endicott. It was warm muggy and rainy  the whole way.. Nice time with Diane in the car.. Leaves were slowly changing.. but so late.. i cant recall this many green leaves this late in the year..   A few breaks of sun gave us some small rainbows.

we were home by noon.. so decided  to take the dogs out for a longish hike in the unseasonably warm weather.. we headed up to the history trail at little river a few mikes down route 2.   Looks liek they have bears too.. (ours has been gone for a while)

it was a perfect day for a hike.. but it was more like mid summer than fall. Normally this weekend would be peak foliage anbd cool .. instead it was mostly green and about 70 degrees !

we love seeing the history signs spread around this 4 mile trail.. .. we always say ‘hi’ to Almeron and Lutheria

there’s is the only building still standing on Ricker Mountain.

hard ot imagine these hills were once cleared and populated.. .. there were even cars up here in the early 20’s

i love walkign these old town roads that were last used almost 100 years ago.. ]

soem leaves near the top were changing.. but still it was earily green for this time of year.. what does it mean ? ]

we checked on the 27 foot deep well we always see..

and we stopped by one of the ancient cemeteries up in the woods.

here’s the old foundation for a silo

foudn an inchworm on one of the signs ..

nice juxtaposition

we stopped by the dam on the way out..

really nice day.

now too sleepy to stay awake.. more tomorrow
