I have to share this with everyone… My friends Mauro, Luca and Emmanuel Have created a very cool application that takes your photo and maps it into style of famous fine arts portraits. The technique is based on generalized adversarial networks (GANs) Which maps your face into a set of canonical faces and then uses that to map your features into the style of the classic portrait .
Mauro put it out just two days ago and the amount of traffic it’s getting is astounding. All day long I’ve been trying to help create infrastructure to meet the growing demand. There are currently thousands of people using it every minute…
Here’s a few pictures it took of me just a few minutes ago
Please try it for yourself and let me know what you think!
Busy day in Cambridge… I was surprised to learn that my friend Sophie was leaving our lab to go work at Mit. I guess that was part of the plan all along. She’s been very important to our lap… She actually is the one that put it together.
. We had a surprise Going away party For her at work today. It was fun to get everyone together.
Long busy day in Cambridge. So hot and humid that I looked like I’d been rained on by the time I got to work.
I had meetings all day .. but managed to sneak out for a quick lunch at aceitune .. a great Middle Eastern place near work . For some reason I ordered “fatoush” a traditional middle eastern salad with mint, lemon, peppers and Tomatoes.. yum
Got home around 8, changed into cooler clothes and went out to meet my buddy Lars for a drink
Now it’s 10:30 at night and I’m at a the Middle Eastern .. a bar I have been coming to since 1977.. and just had Fastouch for dinner
It’s just that kind of day !
Great band called holly aunt and joshua!
one other thing .. yesterday at work I helped my friend Mauro
Just got home from a really nice evening with two new friends. Rodney and lori My friend Joe from work connected me with Rodney… Because he figured we’d like each other… Boy was he right. I was walking back to my hotel around 7 o’clock looking for a place to grab a quick bite by myself when I got an email from Rodney that he was nearby. I walked over the bridge to Boston and he skateboarded up from his Airbnb. I instantly knew it was him and he knew I was me.
Rodney is One of the worlds greatest skateboarders. He was competing at world level at age 13 and still skates every day. He invented a bunch of tricks including the “impossible” that people are still trying to figure out. He also started several companies and used his own inventions to drive him. He’s really a fun and amazing inventor, speaker, all around Van and nedy Guy. He’s just become one of this year’s MIT media Lab fellows so I’ll get to see him a lot.
His girlfriend Lori does hairdressing for movie productions. She’s here working on a big-name movie… And is so nice and wonderful. She’s from New Orleans and we had a whole Lotta fun connecting over that. She’s full of great stories about movie making and movie people . She is such a wonderfully balanced Person. I hope to get to see her again soon
Two new friends in one day… That’s something to smile about
