Sunday night- breaking camp

Today was the last day of sunburn.. what a great trip. Super fun to hang out with family in such a crazy setting

We woke up to cool … almost cold .. cloudy skies . We got up and spread out the parachute and everything else in the hopes that the weak sun would dry things after last nights rain and it did !

We took a paddy walk through the town

The. Started to breakdown camp

After leaving sunburn we went to nearby Madrid to have lunch .. real food !

The. Back to max and Becky’s to wash everything and clean the van

Around 4:15 I took gabe to the airport for his plane back to Portland

Around 8 we headed back in to town for a good Indian dinner then headed to meow woof for a concert (Rebecca black and the man band).

As soon as we got ther I saw that my buddy ryans band would be playing here in 2 days ..

I took a picture of the poster and txted it to him. That’s when I saw his txt that he was already in Santa Fe !in fact he and the band were staying across the street . He came over during the break between the bands and we got to hang out . He got to meet max and Becky which was great too

The show was awesome too . Both bands were great . Man band reminded me of frank zappa . Great musicians and fun/funny lyrics

Is lying in the van , looking at the stars with Diane

Time for sleep. More tomorrow

Saturday night- burn day

Woke today to grey sky’s and cool temperatures, amazing change from yesterday which was in the high 90s . We actually needed extra layers most of the day..

The cool weather allowed everyone to sleep until about noon which was great for the boys who stayed up until dawn .

Diane and I took advantage all the late sleepers by taking a leisurely tour of the whole festival site . We agarsly saw a soul awake

We made breakfast around noon

The rest of the day was slow and cool. Some wicked dust storms kept everyone wrapped up

We came across a wedding in the small fake church

Later on came the naked olympics .. (sorry no pictures allowed 🙂

But it was great hanging out with everyone in town

The weather was worsening .. we wondered if the burn would happen

We hung out in camp as the rain started . It was really nice

The. We heard the burn would happen in 5 min.. so we Ruchard over

There were two hot air ballon baskets with now balloons shooting flame . Pretty amazing !

The burn was really beautiful . Nice to do it with the whole family

Now in the van as a little more rain falls

Nice, nice day !

Friday night – middle day

There’s always that day in a festival where you’re not at either end . Not the start, not the end . Sunburn is a short event .. so today is the middle day. We spent a large part of it sitting around trying to stay cool . . It was unbelievably hot

Still .. we had fun looking around this amazing place

Max did sh**ty tarot card readings http://johncohn.org/base/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/img_3198.mov

Ok .. time for bed

The. We went out for a night of music and weirdness

OK .. we’re probably the earliest ones here to bed and it’s about midnight
