Friday night – heron

I’m grateful that it’s Friday… This weeks seem to be getting longer… Not sure why.

Busy workday… Then I went out and got to see my friends Paul and Ellen… And then go by and see Scott. Read a lovely dinner tonight at our friend Gina and Bills … Their friend Bonny is here too. We haven’t seen them in over a year because of Covid and we had a lot to catch up on.

On the drive up to their house we saw this beautiful heron just walking around the pond right off of Route 2.

What are majestic bird!

Thursday night – Newsworthy

This just in…..

Our friend Paul G of Vidoesyncracies is helping us digitise all of our zillions of videos we have from the years. He just sent me the following two gems that came off of a 47 year old 3/4″ video cassette.. the kind used only by broadcast tv stations.. These are from 1974 when I was a 15 year old teenage newscaster on KHTV UHF Channel 39 in Houston texas

for two years I was one of a rotating group of 4 kids who did short 5 minute newscasts .. “News before the hour” in the morning and afternoons during mostly  kids programming  . It was an awesome job.. I got out of school to do it.. got my drivers license early in order to get there an back.. and I was Abel  to read the new wires every day I was there in 1973-74.. I read about the 7 day war, Watergate Nixon’s impeachment , the Vietnam war, patty hurst .  Skylab  all that stuff… directly from news wire..

I love watching these things with my crazy hair.. my Texas accent..

Wednesday night – gorge update

Super busy day… I feel like I accomplished some stuff today which is kind of unusual. I did break for lunch and have a great picnic with my friend Tim down there his work on the Winooski

Wednesdays is usually is it the day that we climb Bolton mountain but it was raining today… So we opted to take a fast hike up to Huntington gorge to see the work they’re doing to repair the road. It’s been closed for over a year… It was a beautiful walk in the rain… Very Misty and mystical

They’re making good progress trying to put the road back in but honestly I don’t know what’s going to keep that road from washing out again…

Well it’ll be nice to have that Way Road back open… It was awfully nice being able to run or walk on it without seeing any cars

OK… That’s all for today… More tomorrow

Tuesday night – crowzen

It has been crazy cold here the last few days… This morning we woke up To find our friendly crow fountain clogged with ice… It was kind of cool to see… So I’m not sure how much I like seeing ice at the end of April

… And I guess Hal really did freeze over today… The announcement came at 1o’clock at burning man just canceled for the second year running because of the pandemic.

It was a strange way to announce the event… They talked about how excited they were to plan for 2022… Took me a couple of seconds to realize what they had just said…

Honestly I think it was the right idea… They were discussing requiring vaccination proof… They were going to ban travelers from certain countries… At some point it’s just not the same event.

So… Onto 2022 !
